The youngest member of Girls Aloud, Nicola Roberts used to be known as one of the shyer members of the group.

But it appears that with solo success the Beat Of My Drum star has grown in confidence- and she isn't afraid to show it.

The 26-year-old showed off her stunning legs with a minuscule pair of hot pants as she left London's Mahiki nightclub last night.


She teamed her denim shorts with a cool fleece-lined leather jacket, and accentuated her slender pins with heeled leopard print ankle boots.

She was joined by her boyfriend of three years, Dubai boat seller Charlie Fennell.

It appears that the night out was something of an impulse decision to judge from her Twitter page.

Nicola wrote earlier in the afternoon: 'London bound! Charged Mac, new batteries 4 my Beats! Do I listen 2 music that makes me stay in watch the jungle or music that gets me out2play'

The singer has certainly grown in confidence in recent years, recently admitting to the Mail On Sunday's Live magazine: 'You have to be nice to everyone in this business - even people who call you ugly.'

'You have to put grudges to one side. People have said truly horrible things about me. I don’t think in terms of forgiveness; I just try to be professional about it.'

'When I meet people who’ve called me ugly or whatever, I smile through it. I’m not going to make an issue of it.'

'I haven’t got it in me to be as nasty to other people as some people have been to me. I would never degrade myself by bringing myself down to their level. I would never frivolously slag someone off.'

Nicola confessed that she believes she grew up much to fast, saying: 'I was a successful pop star, but I was also this bashful girl from Runcorn.'

'I went straight from school into the big world of Girls Aloud. Looking back, it was a crazy transition.'

She's become something of a fashion icon for her somewhat out-there sartorial sense - but it's unlikely that any style fans will be following in Nicola Roberts's footsteps when it comes to her latest outfit.

The 25-year-old Girls Aloud star has today released her video for new single Lucky Day - and she appears to have forgotten the bottom half of it.

The slender star is seen in a very short brightly-coloured sleveless floral swing top that keeps giving flashes of her leopard print briefs.

Posted up on her official website and You Tube this morning, her choice of outfit has already raised eyebrows.

Filmed on the streets of East Village, New York, it's been directed by Stephen Agnes, who's previously worked with the likes of White Lies and The Vaccines.

The promo sees Nicola prancing around the pavement in the sunshine, followed by a pair of backing dancers, as they draw admiring looks from passing men.

A neon aura surrounds the red-haired beauty as her multi-coloured Nike trainers flash in time to the music.

Somewhat inexplicably, as she walks past a wall, graffiti-ed sperm also flash in time to the beats.

Lucky Day: Nicola Roberts films her second solo music video in New York City and flashes her knickers

In her first solo music video, Beat Of My Drum, she wore patterned pants and now Nicola Roberts is flashing some new knickers.

The 25-year-old singer was shooting a video in New York yesterday for her new upcoming single and showed off a pair of leopard print smalls.

The Girls Aloud star teamed up the pants with a barely-there floral dress and some Nike high tops.

Despite looking like she’d forgotten her trousers, Nicola appeared to be starting a new fashion trend in the Big Apple.

Her second single Lucky Day follows the release of Beat Of My Drum last month from her debut solo album yet to be released.

The album, titled Cinderella’s Eyes will be released on September 26 this year to follow on from two single releases.

But although she received raving reviews from music critics for Beat Of My Drum, Nicola failed to top the charts with it.

The upbeat pop song was written by Nicola, with the help of Maya von Doll, Wesley ‘Diplo’ Pentz and Dimitri Tikovoi.

Nicola was filming the video yesterday at St Marks Place in the East Village of New York City and when she wasn’t dancing around, she posed behind some newspaper stands.

And she tweeted after filming: ‘Today was my ‘Lucky Day’… Had the best time shooting my 2nd video. I met some lovely people. I love NY… All feels very surreal right now. X’

But after a fleeting trip Stateside, Nicola was back in London today for the film premiere of Horrid Henry at London’s Southbank today.

Roberts tweeted this morning: ‘Just landed in London after THE scariest bumpiest flight ever! Didn’t sleep a wink! HATE flying x’

She walked the red carpet to lend her support to Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh, who has a role in the children’s film.

Sarah Harding also arrived for the event, but their other bandmate Cheryl Cole was nowhere to be seen – nor was Nadine Coyle.

For some women their wedding is the most important day of their lives, and one which puts her in the limelight ahead of all the other women in attendance.

But maybe the memo explaining this didn't reach Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh who were very close to upstaging their friend at a wedding today.

The Girls Aloud duo became the star attraction at the Berkshire ceremony and dressed accordingly.

Nicola Roberts, a repeat offender when it comes to crimes against fashion, once again failed to make the grade in an odd coloured striped dress.

With its mix of blue, burgundy and khaki the 25-year-old's dress made for unpleasant viewing.

She topped off the outfit with a pair of pink-soled heels with black bows on the front and a pair of unflattering wayfarer shades.

Just two days before her debut solo single is released for download, Nicola Roberts has aired a preview to her music video Beat Of My Drum.

And the fiery-haired singer puts on a fierce performance in a bizarre pair of 1970s-inspired pants.

The yellow, brown and black ensemble consists of a long-sleeved zebra-print top alongside the high-cut briefs and strappy heels.


Nicola sings ‘L.O.V.E, dance to the beat of my drum,’ in the video, which will be broadcast on Sunday.

And her adventurous dance moves certainly give her Girls Aloud pal Cheryl Cole a run for her money.

Nicola is joined by three back up dances as she boogies down in front of a stack of huge speakers.

The 25-year-old has been busy promoting her upcoming album and the single was aired for the first time yesterday on Radio 1.

The singer went down to the Radio 1 studio as her single was played on the station and T4 will premiere her new video at 12:30pm this Sunday.

Beat Of MY Drum was given its first air play on the Scott Mills show and Nicola has been very excited about her upcoming video.

She tweeted this week: ‘I’m SO proud of Team Ginge! Just had my final video cut through.

‘I’m so excited for you to see it. I LOVE it and cant believe it! X’

Two years after Girls Aloud went on hiatus, Roberts is one of the last band members to release a solo single.

Cheryl Cole has already released two No1 albums, while Nadine Coyle’s solo disc insatiable unfortunately failed to make the same impact.

Kimberley Walsh – who has also been focusing on her career on TV presenting – released a duet with rapper Aggro Santos last year.

Meanwhile, Roberts is DJing at east London pop night Love Machine tomorrow night and has also dropped a hint that Girls Aloud will reform next year.

She told Heatworld.com: ‘If we don’t celebrate out 10th anniversary next year I will be sad for the rest of my life.’

Love Machine is hosting the launch party for her new single at the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen on Saturday night and joked that her DJ name could be DJ Ginger.
