What happened to that Essex glamour? TOWIE star Sam Faiers left the cosmetics at home as she went for a fresh-faced look yesterday

She's renowned for her love of cosmetics, and is rarely seen without a full face of make-up.

But yesterday TOWIE star Sam Faiers decided to leave the slap at home as she went for a fresh-faced look while picking up some last-minute bits ahead of her holiday to Marbella.

The 21-year-old star appeared to be entirely make-up free as she headed out, wearing a black vest top and scalloped-edge shorts.

The only sign of Sam's usual Essex glamour was her eyebrows, which are believed to have been tattooed on with semi-permanent make-up.

Sam also left her fake eyelashes at home, giving her a much more natural look.

Earlier this year, the reality TV star opened up about the impulsive disorder which leads her to pull out her own natural eyelashes.

Trichotillomania is an impulse-control disorder which causes people to pull out their hair, which could be from the hair on their head or hair on other parts of their body, which eventually leads to bald patches.

Talking about the disorder previously, Sam told The Sun: 'It is hard to explain. I do it without thinking. I do it when I am nervous or bored or even when I am asleep. I don’t even realise I am doing it.'

Sam also appeared to have possibly put on a few pounds, and looked slightly heavier than she has done in recent weeks as she stepped out in Brentwood.

The TOWIE star jetted out to the Spanish resort of Marbella early this morning.

She tweeted: 'Morning ! 4 am start for me !! I'm tiredddd at the airport having a cup of tea, my eyes sting ! X x x Marbs today! Wohooo'

The cast, including Sam's on-again off-again boyfriend Joey Essex are also travelling to Marbella to film scenes for the series.

Talking to MailOnline at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy SIII phone at the Carphone Warehouse in Central London earlier this week, Sam said of the trip: 'We can't wait pretty much all the cast are going and we are going to have such a fun time only six people aren't going. Nanny Pat isn't, but I'm sure she would love to.'

Sam also spoke about her rekindled relationship with Joey, adding that things are so serious the pair have even spoken about marriage.

She said: 'I think we are both a little bit more mature now and we have sorted things out so I think it will last longer this time. me and Joey have both said that we want to get married.

Asked what her mother thought of Joey, Sam replied: 'She absolutely loves him, i think she loves him more than me! She would love him as a son-in-law they get on so well and she is really happy for us.'

Billie is also happy for her sister being so lucky in love, telling MailOnline: 'I would love to have Joey as my brother-in-law I think he's great they are both a bit more mature now and I can't wait to start planning the hen party.'

As one of the faces of ITV's hit reality show The Only Way Is Essex, Sam Faiers is known for always looking her very best.

But today Sam revealed the secret reason behind why she always wear false eyelashes.

The 21-year-old has opened up for the first time about her battle with Trichotillomania - a disorder which causes her to pull out her real eyelashes.

Trichotillomania is an impulse-control disorder which causes people to pull out their hair, which could be from the hair on their head or hair on other parts of their body, which eventually leads to bald patches.

It is a psychological condition and therefore people who suffer with it are not able to stop themselves from pulling out their hair as they feel an intense urge to do so as it causes a sense of relief.

The glamour model who chooses to wear two sets of fake lashes for dramatic effect told The Sun that she has suffered with the disorder, which affects as much as four per cent of the population, since she was eight-years-old.

She said that she started pulling out her eyelashes after someone told her to make a wish on a stray eyelash.

But as an impressionable young child, Sam took that belief to be true and began pulling out her lashes in the hope that all her wishes would be fulfilled and it soon became something that she was unaware she was even doing.

The blonde haired beauty told the newspaper, 'It is hard to explain. I do it without thinking. I do it when I am nervous or bored or even when I am asleep. I don’t even realise I am doing it.'

Sam explained that her mother got really 'frustrated' with her once she realised what her daughter had been doing and took her to see a doctor in the hopes that the issue would be solved.

However, after a seeking treatment and even undergoing hypnotherapy the problem continued.

As a teenager Sam relied on make-up to help her hide the fact she didn't have any eyelashes because in primary school she felt 'embarrassed' when other children used to ask her why she had no eyelashes.

She said, 'I learned to smudge eyeliner a bit around my eyes, and people didn’t notice my lack of lashes so much. That made me more relaxed about it and I was able to tell people the truth if they asked.'

Although the reality star has come to terms with her disorder, she says that the support of her family members has helped her with her confidence but she has admitted that she has no immediate plans to combat it as she's too busy.

'My family and boyfriends say I look beautiful either way, although I guess they have to say that! I can see that other people are surprised the first time they see me without my lashes or make-up.'

She continued, 'I probably will try to overcome the problem eventually, but I don’t feel I have the time for it at the moment. I still don’t normally talk about it. It’s just those close to me that know — until now.'

She's been splashing about in swimming pools during a chilled-out holiday in Dubai.

But now it's back to work for ever-busy TOWIE star Sam Faiers.

Thankfully for her, the switching back into work mode doesn't require a change of wardrobe, and she was seen posing outside a bus in London this morning.

The 21-year-old admitted that the shoot wasn't quite as glamorous as it looked, confessing: 'It was cold outside, and I felt a bit self-conscious with about 50 men looking on. And my skin is peeling after my holiday in Dubai!'

Sam has just been revealed as the face of Swimwear 365.

The star has put a little weight on in recent months, and said: 'Last year I was more like a size 8, but since then I’ve been in a relationship and I put on a bit of weight, because you stay in more.'

'I’m so busy with TOWIE that I haven’t had time to go to the gym. But now that I’m single again, I guess I’ll have the time.'

'I really like sandwiches. And when I’m in the supermarket I think I should buy a healthy wrap – but then I don’t. But at the moment I’m eating loads of meat.'

'But I’m really looking forward to summer, because then you feel more like eating salad and healthy stuff.'

She said she gave the new range a thorough testing in the water park on holiday when she was seen with her mother- and the bikinis didn’t go see-through in the water.

The star hinted at her reasons for splitting with boyfriend TJ, revealing: 'Before I thought it was better to see someone who wasn’t in the industry. But now, I think I’d rather see someone who is in the business because people who aren’t get jealous.'

ITV2 bosses have given TOWIE stars the green light to fly to the Spanish holiday destination to film a one-off episode.

Sam has hinted that the gang will take their hijinks even further than usual, promising: 'lots of dramas, a fight and maybe a wedding'.

Sam added: 'It will need lots of dramas, a fight and maybe a wedding."

After splitting from her boyfriend TJ last month, Sam admitted she was keen for 'TOWIE' bosses to introduce more 'fit' men to the ITV2 show.

She said: 'I reckon there should be a lot of fun in the new series. A lot of us girls on the show are now single so they need some guys.'

'They can't just throw one guy in there, they need three or four as there are so many girls. If we had more guys it would be much more fun. I just want a really fit guy who is not a player.'

'I would like someone who has a bit more of a Cockney accent than an Essex accent. No hair gel but they have to have good teeth, good shoes, and smell good.'

Throughout the first three series of TOWIE, Faiers has been linked with co-stars Joey Essex and Mark Wright, as well as most recent ex TJ off-screen.

She dated Essex for four months, before hooking up with TJ for a few months last summer.

And then she reunited with ex-fling Wright for a brief romance in the third series of TOWIE last November before resuming her relationship with TJ.

Sam Faiers was attacked so viciously by a gang of 10 girls last night that she was rushed to hospital for an emergency brain scan.

The ITV2 star, 20, spent the night recovering at Whipps Cross Hospital near Leytonstone after suffering two black eyes, swollen nose and bruises.

Trouble started on Saturday evening during a night out with sister Billie, 21, at The Jet Black Club off Tottenham Court Road.

The group of girls targeted Billie, stealing her £2,500 Mulberry handbag containing her mobile phone and cash.

Sam and Billie complained to bouncers, who then threw the culprits out.

However, it was when reality TV beauty Billie left the club that she was attacked by screaming girls waiting outside the venue.

A passer-by caught the action on their camera phone, which shows Billie being thrown to the floor, being called a 'slag' and having her hair yanked.

The pavements were thronging with revellers who stopped to witness the action, yet no one appeared to be able to successfully break up the fight.

Eventually, she made her escape and and took a taxi back to a friend’s
house in Essex.

After the incident, Sam received a phone call from the thieves who were using her sister’s mobile.

They reportedly said they would hand it back to her if she met them in a field at Repton Park in Chigwell, Essex.

It was when Sam went to the field with a friend that she was set upon.

A spokesman for the pair said: 'It was an unprovoked and horrific attack.'

Unbeknown to Sam, 10 girls were waiting for her, ready to kick and punch her to the ground, despite her pleas for them to stop.

The gang are believed to have run away after thinking they had killed her.

Sam's friend, who was also attacked, took her by taxi to the hospital, where Billie later joined them.

Brentwood Police are due to interview the girls about their ordeal, but a Met Police spokesman said it had not received a crime report yet.

James 'Arg' Argent revealed he had spoken to Sam and 'thank God she said shell be ok!'

They are the stars of a very popular reality TV show and the owners of a thriving high street boutique that has also taken its wares online.

But for Sam and Billie Faiers, the world is most definitely their oyster and the sisters known when they've come across a pearl, especially when it comes to fashion.

The Only Way Is Essex stars have taken their ideas, tastes and eye for fashion and have designed their very first clothing line.

The range, which is touted as more Hollywood Hills than Brentwood High Street, is called GraciEve and yesterday was launched at 14 House of Fraser stores across the UK.

Prices for the ready-to-wear range vary from £65 for a sequinned bodycon dress to £42 for a pair of leopard-print sequin hotpants.

It was designed and completely financed by Billie and Sam and created in partnership with Essex-based stylist Jeff Mehmet.

Louise Bailey, House of Fraser's contemporary buyer, said the line will be a 'huge success' because of the timing of the launch.

She explained: 'Essex is very on trend at the moment, isn't it? It's Essex chic. I can see it translating up north and in the rest of the country.

'When I saw the collection I loved it and placed a considerable order there and then. Sam and Billie have a great eye and really understand how young women want to dress and shop today.'

Sam and Billie already know a bit about fashion and business as they are the owners of Minnie's Boutique in Brentwood, Essex, which viewers of the reality TV show were introduced to during the last series.

It sells labels such as Forever Unique, and Maggie and Me, and the girls have often been seen wearing the designs on the show.

It launched online earlier this month and received 10m hits before it went live, with 380,000 hits in the first 10 minutes.

Sam said: 'The response is mad. There will be comments asking where we got anything we wear on the show, even if it is just a new Alice band.'

She's more used to the bright lights of Brentwood on her reality show - but The Only Way Is Essex star Sam Faiers is getting a taste of a real celebrity lifestyle on a holiday in Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old landed at the city's LAX yesterday after bidding a fond farewell to her boyfriend and TOWIE co-star Joey Essex.

Sam however has something to remind her of her loved one - she's flown out to the City Of Angels with Joey's sister Frankie.


The boutique owner was clearly over excited about her flight out to California.

She wrote‎: 'On plane with @FrankieEssex here we come hollywood!! LA baby! Business class seats... Heaven! Were both so excited! X'

But it will be a wrench for Sam to be away from her beloved.

The pair are so smitten, they sparked engagement rumours earlier this month when Sam was spotted wearing a diamond solitaire on her ring finger.

But while the jewel is thought to be a 'promise ring', Sam and Joey are still refusing to comment on the reports.

The pair are clearly going to miss each other, and had a massive night out on Wednesday as a holiday send off.

Sensibly, it wasn't the night before so Sam wasn't too hungover for her flight.

Joey had work to do anyway - on Thursday, he made a personal appearance in Belfast at the city's The Box nightclub.

On Wednesday night, Sam and Joey demonstrated their passion for each by starting canoodling as soon as they jumped into a cab home, despite it only being a 50 minute journey.

The affectionate pair put on quite a show for the cameras as they headed home after the Vista at the Trafalgar charity event.

Clearly deciding she wanted to be closer to her man, Sam began her journey home perched precariously on Joey's lap, who looked more than happy to keep a tight grip on his gorgeous girlfriend.

However, the pair's public display of affection may have been slightly inappropriate given that Sam's best friend Harry Derbidge was also in the cab heading back to their home county.

And while Joey stuck to his Grease-inspired look in tight-fitting jeans and and leather jacket, Sam looked cute in her summer-chic outfit of a pretty dress and jacket, both from her Brentwood clothes shop Minnie's Boutique.

But what about me? Harry Derbidge was also in the taxi as Joey and Sam puckered up


After the event, Sam wrote on her Twitter page: 'Wicked night last night!!

'At a shoot with Joey! And LA 2morrow with @FrankieEssex ahhh! 2excited!!!!!'

After that bash, Sam, Joey and Harry headed over to Alto's nightclub where they continued their evening of fun and caught up with members of another reality show - Geordie Shore.

TOWIE however will be back on our screens in September, and is said to start filming again in August.

So when The Only Way Is Essex star Sam Faiers decided to wear a bright orange dress to dinner last night it appeared she had matched her outfit to her skin tone.

The boutique owner, 20, arrived with her boyfriend Joey Essex at Alex’s Restaurant in Brentwood and her deep tan was just as bright as her kaftan-style dress.


Sam teamed her outfit with a pretty patterned clutch and a pair of brown strappy wedges.

Meanwhile boyfriend and promoter Joey opted for a retro look of drainpipe stonewash jeans his favourite brown belt a long-sleeved white Abercrombie and Fitch T-shirt and a camal jacket.

The couple dined with Sam’s sister Billie and her boyfriend as well as a number of friends.

While on screen their affections have been limited to a few pecks on the lips Sam and Joey were seen canoodling together at the dinner table.

A happy love life isn’t the only thing that Sam has to smile about at the moment she and Billie have found their boutique has been a hit with fans of the reality TV show.

When Brentwood boutique Minnies opened to the public earlier this month, hoards of young girls and their mothers queued patiently to catch of glimpse of the goods on offer at the store.

Because Minnie’s was overrun with The Only Way Is Essex fans today, as the store opened to the public.

Scores of young girls, their mothers and even a few men queued outside the boutique in Brentwood, Essex.


Sam, 20, and her sister Billie, 21, will undoubtedly have their till bursting with cash by the end of the Easter weekend if business continues to be this good.

But it is unknown whether all of the camera-happy fans were at Minnie’s to shop or to just get a glimpse of the reality TV stars.

Despite their intentions, the sisters looked happy to welcome their potential customers and Sam looked stunning in a strapless floral dress and nude heels.

While Billie opted for a navy blue silk knee-length dress during their store’s first day of business.

And updated her Twitter again today, posting: ‘Minnies opening!! Having an amazing day xx’
