She claims not to be the 'type of woman who would wear high heels with a bathing suit'. But Vera Wang seems to have achieved it remarkably well in a shoot for the new issue of Harper's Bazaar U.S.
The designer, 62, who was pictured by the pool of her new LA home, revealed an age-defying body that could belong to a woman half - or even a third - of her age.
Wearing a black swimsuit by Eres with an Alexander Wang corset, she showed off lean, tanned and toned limbs with not a trace of cellulite.

Age-defying body: Vera Wang, 62, poses in an Eres swimsuit and Alexander Wang corset for Harper's Bazaar
But for someone who wears swimwear so well, Ms Wang admits her usual beachside look is heavily covered-up.
Explaining to the magazine how she came to pose in the outfit, she admitted: 'I wanted to wear a corset from Alexander Wang, whom I like a great deal. I was thinking it would be over a legging or a boyish short, but the next thing I knew, I was there in a swimsuit.
'The funny thing is that I'm the girl who no one sees at the beach. Ask anyone who's traveled with me. Normally, I'm in so many layers, I look like Lawrence of Arabia!'
LA story: The designer, pictured in a top and skirt by Rick Owens, opened the doors to her Beverly Hills home
Escape: Ms Wang revealed that the house would be an antidote to her hectic New York lifestyle
She added that she was even 'a little horrified' by the resulting image, taken by photographer Douglas Friedman.
Other photos from the shoot show her wearing pieces that are more akin to the items in her own wardrobe, such as a draped jersey maxiskirt and leather vest by Rick Owens, and a cocktail dress by Azzedine Alaia.
But it is the bright, minimalist Beverly Hills house, where the shoot took place, that really steals the show.

The result of a decade-long search for a West Coast property, Ms Wang describes it as a 'zen escape' from New York, where she continues to be based.
'New York for me is about work. If LA were to become a West Coast version of that, I'd shoot myself,' she said. 'The climate, the lifestyle — it really fits as the yin to my New York yang.'
With breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, she told how the four-bedroom house was built in 1967 and counts Burt Reynolds among its former residents.
A-list brides: Victoria's Secret model Lily Aldridge in her Vera Wang wedding gown last year (left), and Chelsea Clinton walking down the aisle in hers at her wedding in 2010 (right)
Famous fans: Ms Wang has dressed some of the world's biggest stars, from left: Sandra Bullock at the Academy Awards in 2011; Rachel Weisz at the same event in 2007 and Michelle Williams in 2006
Though she finds herself in LA regularly for work - she has dressed countless A-listers for red carpet events, not to mention their weddings - this house will be a place to relax, something she finds impossible in a hotel.
And given that she has spent most of her life living in New York, the luxury of having a pool is most definitely not lost on her.
'The great thing about having a pool in LA is that I can use it year-round,' she explained in a behind-the-scenes video. 'And since I've always been an athlete, staying fit is very important to me.'
