What a stunner: Lucy-Jo Hudson showed off her weight loss while promoting her return to Wild At Heart

She's said she always considered herself 'chunky' while playing the role that made her famous.

But star Lucy-Jo Hudson was a far cry from her dowdy Coronation Street days when she appeared on This Morning.

The star lost weight ahead of her wedding to Corrie co-star Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, in June 2009, shrinking from a size 14 to a size eight.

But the 28-year-old looked slimmer than ever during her ITV visit where she spoke about her return to Wild At Heart.

And fans took to comment on the transformation.

Lucy-Jo showed off her slim legs in a pair of black leather trousers, and hid her shrinking frame in a floaty top.

One fan said: 'How much weight has lucy-jo hudson lost since she was in @itvcorrie she looks stunning! @itvthismorning.'

Picture perfect: The former Coronation Street actress slimmed down from a size 14 to seize eight before her wedding in 2009, but looked to be even smaller

Another said; 'OMG Lucy Jo Hudson is sooooo skinny ! #thismorning.'

And another joked: 'That Tyrone off coronation st is punching above his weight. You seen that Lucy-jo Hudson his wife she looks fit now she's lost ten stone.'

Others commented on her sleek cropped haircut, with one saying; 'LOVE Lucy Jo-Hudson's hair!! Shorter may well be the way to go.'

Lucy-Jo told the Daily Mirror today: 'I lost weight because every bride wants to look their best so I started looking after my health more. I started exercising too and I’ve sort of kept it up.

'Cardio never seemed to work with me but now I do a lot more resistance work, with weights and squats and lunges. I think the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn.”

She also made changed to her diet.

Look at my bling: Lucy shows off her wedding ring on the show

'Back when I ate stodge and ready meals, I had no energy and felt tired and sluggish.

'But eating smaller, lighter meals has made a huge difference.

'Now I eat little and often instead of having big meals. I’ll have six mini meals a day just to keep the metabolism kicking in. If I get hungry I get moody so I always have snacks in my fridge and on set.

'I don’t deprive myself – I love chocolate so I have a little bit of it every day. It helps not being a big drinker too because if I was drinking a lot I would be bigger.'

The star played moody teenager Katy Harris on Corrie between 2002 and 2005, sporting an array of out -there hairstyles, including a blonde and pink punk-style do.

A year after leaving the show, she played the character of Rosie Trevanion on Wild At Heart until 2009.

She will return to the show in Sunday's episode as a full-qualified vet and will be seen getting into a terrifying scrape with a three-legged cheetah.

Lucy says her marriage to Alan is stronger than ever and is glad the couple are able to stay out of the public eye, unlike her former Corrie co-star Michelle Keegan.

'Michelle for one is so beautiful and lovely and people want to see what she’s up to,” says Lucy Jo.

'When I was in Corrie playing Katy I looked a bit chunky after comfort eating my way to a size 14 so nobody was that interested in me! But that was fine.

So in love: Lucy-Jo with her husband and former Corrie co-star, Alan Halsall

'Because Michelle is beautiful and she’s been going out with Max from boyband The Wanted, there’s that hype around both of them. Al and I are obviously very different.'

She says she'd love to have children in the future, and has seen how her former Wild At Heart co-star Amanda Holden juggled motherhood.

'She’s a rare gem, Amanda. She knows what she wants and manages to get it. She’s proof you can make that change and have kids.

'I’ve seen Amanda bring her baby (Lexie, now five) out here to Africa, so it is do-able. I’m so excited for her being pregnant again.'
