Acoustic: Katy Perry transformed her usual stage presence for a soulful performance of her new single The One That Got Away on the X Factor
Her fans are accustomed to her prancing around in colourful latex costumes on a stage filled with oversized cartoon-like fruit and sweets.
But Katy Perry ditched the extravagant staging for her surprisingly paired down performance on the X Factor tonight.
Katy played her guitar and sang with two back-up singers for her new single, ballad The One That Got Away.
Something missing? Twitter users were quick to point out that the singer was without her wedding ring, but it was back in place later when the singer exited the building
The 26-year-old had her hair, back to pink, curled into a Forties style 'do and wore an unusually simple outfit of white short-sleeved shirt and black trousers.
But eagle-eyed fans on Twitter were quick to note that she was not wearing her wedding ring.
But the ring was back in place shortly afterwards, when Katy signed autographs for fans after the show.
Soulful: The ballad was a departure from her usual upbeat pop tracks
The song is a departure from Perry's uptempo pop tracks, and saw the singer show off her raw talent as she harmonised with her band.
Katy was pictured filming the music video for The One That Got Away earlier in the month, made up to look like an old woman.
Katy has been performing her new single as a mash-up with Adele's hit song Someone Like You at a number of her UK concerts.

Perry told X Factor host Dermot O'Leary after her performance that last night she completed the 95th show on her California Dreams tour at London's O2 Arena.
Next up, the Teenage Dream hitmaker is on to Liverpool. Judge Gary Barlow offered some advice on nightlife in the north, telling Katy to visit nightclub Grafton - which is actually shut down.
Also performing tonight was The Wanted, who sang their new single Lightning.
