Katy Perry's religious parents have managed to see something positive in the breakdown of their daughter's one year marriage.

The pair spoke about their daughter's divorce for the first time - from the pulpit of their evangelical church which was unusually packed it seems.

And the ministers suggested her split with Russell Brand was a gift sent by God - to help them fill churches.

The service was held yesterday, as removal containers were seen in the grounds of the celebrity couple's $6.5 million Hollywood Hills mansion, ready to cart away their belongings.


Mary, 63, preached to the Church on the Rise congregation in Westlake, Ohio: 'I'm sure that Katy's trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight.

'I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.'

She and husband Keith, 63, billed themselves as 'Katy Perry's parents in marketing materials for the event, reported CNN.

They spoke for about 90 minutes to 300 worshippers in the first service since Katy's split with the comedian on Friday.

A video was shown before the Hudsons took the stage in Ohio showed them at award shows with Katy.

Keith told the crowd he converted from a drug user to a Christian when he was 24 years old.

He added that his daughter's success had helped the couple share their beliefs with Hollywood superstars.

"What has taken place in my daughter's life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people.

'God has given us a platform to go in and meet people — and they like us because we are cool. We are not threatening.'

'Just because they do not like what you do or what you are, they are still praying that you stay in the race. They are counting on you.

'I believe in God, for every one of my children.'

The service comes as it was claimed the 14-month marriage ended because Russell continuously mocked his in-laws' beliefs at family events.

Friends said the singer had asked Russell to file the court papers last month to avoid upsetting her parents, who are strongly opposed to divorce.

The comments were revealed by biographer Chloe Govan, author of Katy Perry: A Life of Fireworks.

A friend said: 'Russ was forever making lewd jokes at the dinner table and poking fun at her parents' beliefs.

'He managed to restrain himself in the beginning — just. But as the marriage progressed, he got worse and kept winding up her family.'

Another added: 'After the lust wore off, reality hit home about their differences and she was left thinking, 'What have I done?'

Other rumours say the split was because Katy couldn’t keep up with Russell’s appetite in the bedroom, and he disapproval of her party lifestyle.

Russell, 36, has reportedly been uninvited from the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday to avoid a confrontation with Katy.

She is expected to make her fist appearance since the split at the show where she is nominated for seven awards, including Favourite Female Artist.

A source told the Daily Mirror: 'It will be Katy’s big night, a prelude to the Grammys, and now Russell has been strangely left off the list of attendees for the high-profile event.

'It was always going to be awkward for organisers in any case after their shock decision to split. But in order to avoid any awkwardness or confrontation Russ is no longer on the list.'

She is said to be holed up in the LA home she shared with Russell, which they purchased in June.

The comedian-turned-actor has been seen on a number of occasions since releasing a statement about the divorce, and was yesterday spotted leaving his manger's home in Primrose Hill, London.

The couple, who were married in India October 2010, spent Christmas thousands of miles apart, with Katy in Hawaii and Russell in Cornwall.

They were both pictured without their wedding rings.

He filed for divorce on January 30.

Meanwhile, a new song has been leaked in which Katy sings about shooting bad lovers. Recorded before the split, Bullet, tells how her dad will gun down men who break her heart.

She sings: 'My mama warned me about boys like you,

'It’s the reason I wear these high-heeled boots.

'And let me give you a little piece of advice.

'My papa packs heat and he won’t think twice.'

Katy wrote it for US country singer Jessie James, 23, but it is her voice on the leaked version.

Will she tell all? Natasha Giggs entered the Celebrity Big Brother house last night and says brother-in-law Ryan is 'terrified'


Celebrity Big Brother may have a tendency to sidestep the real talent for wannabes who have slept with famous faces; but it's a guilty pleasure.

And viewers will be tuning in to see if Natasha Giggs spills the beans on her sex life with Manchester United player Ryan Giggs.

Last night, the 29-year-old who entered the famous doors to become a housemate on Channel 5, revealing the footballer, 38, will be 'terrified'.


Despite not actually being famous in her own right, Natasha walked through the doors on opening night alongside X Factor reject Frankie Cocozza, former EastEnder Natalie Cassidy and TOWIE's Kirk Norcross.

Prior to signing up for the fly-on-the-wall series, Natasha was married to Ryan’s brother Rhodri, until an eight-year affair with Ryan was exposed.

In a pre-series interview, Natasha told the Daily Star: 'Ryan will be seething when he sees I’ve gone in the house. He’s terrified what else I could say.'

She added: 'I was one of two people who did the same thing. It’s hardly fair that his reputation has hardly been affected.

As Natasha initially made her way down the stairs and into the house, it was clear to see that mother-of-two Nicola wasn't pleased.

Viewers will be hoping their sugar-coated greeting will soon subside for some real bitching and backstabbing in the name of entertainment.

But whether or not their feud propels into a cat fight, Natasha faces another awkward showdown from rugby star - and Ryan's friend - Gareth Thomas.

The first eviction takes place on Wednesday in a live show at 9pm.

Professional: The boys refused to let their fans down and played in Plymouth yesterday


The boy band One Direction were involved in car accident last night, which left three members of the needing treatment for neck injuries.

Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne, had just performed in the city and were treated at the scene.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the smash in Birmingham after a car sped into the band's tour bus.


Ambulance crews said three members of the band had severe headaches and spinal pain but the injuries were not serious.

Although the boys were advised to cancel their next gig in Plymouth the quintet were desperate not to leave fans high and dry.

As rumours of the crash spread online, hundreds of worried One Direction fans frantically tweeted trying to find out if the crew were injured.

A source told The Daily Mirror: 'It was pretty terrifying for everyone concerned.

'All five boys, plus two members of the crew, were in their tour bus when the car rammed into the back of it.

'Thankfully, it withstood most of the impact but obviously, travelling at speed, the boys’ couldn’t avoid whiplash.'

A Twitter frenzy erupted soon after the news emerged with fans desperate for news of the young heartthrobs.

Fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration after rumours spread about the crash.

Despite their injuries, the band took to the stage at Plymouth’s Pavilions last night and performed a slightly tentative 90 minute set as part of their UK tour.

Everybody knows that Mark Wright loves his extra tight fitting clothes to cling to his body.

But by the look of him in these pictures he may have to take a break from wearing any of them for a little while and maybe borrow some from his best mate, Arg.

The former star of The Only Way Is Essex was spotted in his native county spilling out over his jeans yesterday.


The 24-year-old was in Loughton, Essex, looking at new cars with his father when his wardrobe malfunction occurred.

Wearing a pair of skinny jeans and a body hugging blue polo neck top, the reality TV star showed just how much weight he had put on and looked anything but reem.

The usually toned and tanned Mark flashed some muffin top as his Bjorn Borg underwear couldn't hold in his back-fat any longer.

The I'm A Celebrity star admitted before Christmas that he was on a mission to get back into shape after he put on a whopping two stone in less than three weeks.

Mark has publicly criticised his best friend, James Argent, and his ex-fiancee, Lauren Goodger, for their size in the past.

They spent around an hour and a half looking at different models and talking through paper work but didn't leave in a new vehicle.

Maybe the smooth talking Wright was hoping to have a new motor to roll up to his new presenting gig on Take Me Out: The Gossip, which begins this Saturday on ITV2.

Mr Wright popped to Nobu for a spot of dinner and put on a dark grey blazer to cover his extra tight polo neck top.

Judging from his earlier over-spill we're sure Mark would have stuck to eating a nice healthy salad at the Japanese restaurant.

Second chance: Frankie Cocozza received a mixture of cheers and boos as he made his way into the house


Everyone knows that Celebrity Big Brother likes to throw odd personalities together and this year was no different.

Channel 5 have grouped together an array of reality TV stars, models and a Hollywood actor to kick off their second series of the popular show.

Viewers will be intrigued to see just how well Frankie Cocozza will get on with identical Playboy twins and if Michael Madsen will even know who Denise Welch is.


The first celebrity to go in was former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy who was certainly excited to go inside.

Wearing a black dress with sheer sleeves and matching tights, the mother-of-one seemed really excited.

'It's an honour,' she told host of the show Brian Dowling. 'I can't wait to have great times and meet new people. I just want to entertain everyone.'

And the next housemate for her to entertain viewers with was actor Michael Madsen.

The Reservoir Dogs star looked a little unsure of reacting to the crowd as he made his way to the podium.

Wearing a straw cowboy hat, an American-printed shirt and a black biker jacket, Michael also looked uninterested in speaking to Brian.

'I don't know f*** all about Big Brother,' he said. 'But it's gonna be like rehab without the doctors.'

The actor had dyed his hair blonde for the show and Brian commented on this.

'I just wanted to dispel the argument that blondes are stupid,' he told him.

When he arrived in the house, Natalie knew who he was straight away and offered him an alcoholic drink.

The pair looked quite uncomfortable with each other and Natalie looked relieved when Andrew Stone made his way inside.

The dancer told Brian to expect 'the unexpected' before running in and giving the actress a hug.

Michael then asked Andrew how his intro was, to which he replied: 'I don't know, I didn't see it.'

The Pineapple Dance studios was wearing a red jumper, a checked shirt and dark trousers as he made a beeline for the alcohol.

As he grabbed some champagne, Michael was talking to him with a mouthful of crisps.

The next two people to enter the house were identical Playboy twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon.

The 22-year-old blondes are well-known for being Hugh Hefner's girlfriends and looked freezing in their tiny dressed.

'We've packed lots of glamorous outfits,' they told Brian after posing for the photographers.

When they arrived in the house and greeted everyone, Michael was nowhere to be seen as he was having a wander.

Next up to walk in was former X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza.

'And I won't do any of that under the cover s**t,' he told him.

After adding that he's not fussy when it comes to women, Frankie made his way inside and was greeted by Natalie who have him a big hug.

The wannabe singer is the youngest celebrity in the house this series, but seemed less nervous than some of the other.

Next to join them was former rugby player Gareth Thomas who looked trendy in a leather jacket, jeans and a waistcoat.

The Welsh star told Brian he is competitive and likes to win anything he takes part in.

He was familiar with Natalie, just like the other celebrities, and was eager to have a drink once inside.

He was followed by a female famous face in the form of Nicola McLean.

The well-known glamour model had certainly dressed up for the occasion wearing a tight black dress that showed off her famous assets.

The mother-of-two, who said she was already missing her kids, was physically shaking when she got inside but viewers were keen to see her reaction to greeting Natalie.

The pair have previously had a public feud but seemed absolutely fine with one another as they hugged.

Following her was The Only Way Is Essex star Kirk Norcross who looked rather dapper in a checked blazer and burgundy jeans.

The TV star told Brian he was going in the house to have an good time.

'I'm just gonna party and have a laugh,' he said, before saying he would like to get naked.

But then it was time for another glammed up female to enter the house - in the form of lingerie model Georgia Salpa.

The Irish beauty wore a short, strapless white dress and told Brian that she had spent the whole day getting ready.

When she walked down the stars, Kirk looked particularly happy to see her and told her she looked lovely - but she ignored the compliment.

Next up to go in was Natasha Giggs - who is most famous for having an affair with her brother-in-law Ryan Giggs.

The brunette said she was keen to tell her side of the story and thanked some of the crowd for cheering.

She was very happy as she walked in but one housemate who looked shocked and annoyed was Nicola.

The blonde eventually got up from the sofa and gave Natasha a hug though but still didn't look pleased.

Following Natasha was So Solid Crew star Romeo Dunn who looked very smart in a dark grey suit and white shirt.

The 21 Seconds star walked out to a crowd of screaming women and told Brian he was 'ready for the challenge.'

'I've just come to be myself and have some fun,' he added.

Last but not least to join the eleven celebrities was former Coronation Street star Denise Welch.

The actress wore a large fur coat to keep her warm and waved excitedly as she headed for Brian.

'My kids are having a nervous breakdown,' she told him, before saying: 'I just want to get in the swimming pool with the young ones.'

The group were well on their way to finishing the alcohol had provided and were preparing themselves to take a tour of the house and the garden.

Channel 5 has promised some big surprises for the latest series and even better daily tasks.

Brian will be back with another live show on Friday night, where no doubt the first twist will begin.

But what better way for a multi millionaire media mogul to relax than hiring a luxury yacht and joining the St Bart's Caribbean celebrity set.

And it certainly looked like the 52-year-old's troubles sailed away onboard super yacht The Slipstream.

Chartering the 196ft yacht can cost between $450,000 and $900,000 a week but if like Cowell you are worth an estimated $130million the cost of pure relaxation is a drop in the ocean.

The X Factor creator was taking a well earned break from his luxury Caribbean break by chartering the yacht which comes complete with a crew of 12.

Cowell is rumoured to be onboard with fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy and a group of friends after taking his annual holiday in Barbados.

Slipstream‘s stateroom features mirrors above a giant waterbed, a Jacuzzi, an observation lounge with panoramic views, gym and a sky lounge with a retractable roof.

Slipstream’s interiors are neo-Art Deco combining “dark ebony joinery and red leather paneling.”

The sun-deck is features a spa, sun-pads, bar with BBQ and al-fresco dining area, and Sipstream comes equipped with state-of-the-art entertainment system including video on demand as well as a satellite communications center.

Although the Slipstream is the largest yacht ever launched by France’s CMN Shipyard it isn't the flashiest boat chartered by celebrities.

In contrast, last year’s winner Jai McDowall received just £100,000.
