You'd think the layers of stage make-up might be enough.
But Simon Cowell has gone the extra mile to look good on television by having 'special lights' installed on Britain's Got Talent.
The music mogul is the only judge to benefit from the trickery, having added strip lighting at his end of the table which helps gives him a 'healthy glow'.
'Healthy glow': The special lights Simon Cowell uses on Britain's Got Talent to flatter his best angles
In exclusive pictures obtained by MailOnline, a row of three lights can be seen focused on the music mogul while his fellow judges Alesha Dixon and David Walliams go without.
Cowell is well known for his attention to his appearance. He has spent thousands on getting a blindingly white Hollywood smile, wears high Cuban heels and liberally uses fake tan.
A source told Mail Online: 'I noticed these in Blackpool (when Amanda was ill) and they show the judges panel with the special lights.
'It was unusual as the lights were at the front of his part of the desk but not David or Alesha's.'
Where's ours? Alesha Dixon and David Walliams didn't have any lights on the desk at the BGT auditions in Blackpool
New line-up: Cowell is seen here with new judges Alesha and David, as well as returning judge Amanda Holden
Some commenters have called the installation of the lights 'subtle trickery.'
And a source told The Sun: 'No matter where he turns there is more light on him than the others, which makes him look better on camera. It appears he has a healthy glow.'
Simon also has his own make-up artist Julia Carter, who is very attentive and reportedly touches up his powder between every act.
The X Factor star, 52, is currently holding auditions for the sixth series.
The Syco boss has been tweeting about the hopefuls auditioning for him and judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and stand-in Carmen Electra.
Earlier this week he wrote: 'Loving London auditions @GotTalent, saw a 17-year-old singer yesterday who is off the chart good. Carmen very cute.'
The former Baywatch actress is temporarily filling Amanda Holden's shoes while she is on maternity leave looking after her newborn tot Hollie Rose. However Carmen' reception has been rather frosty.
Unpopular: Carmen Electra has been booed by BGT fans as they demand the return of Amanda Holden, who she is filling in for temporarily on the judging panel
Fans have been booing her, while Simon's fellow panellists are fed up of his flirtatious relationship with the US beauty 39.
According to The Sun, the pair have been holding hands, stroking each other and whispering private jokes to one another.
One onlooker at the Hammersmith Apollo said: 'It's become increasingly obvious why Simon booked Carmen... they were all over each other. They were play-hitting each other like awkward teenagers.'
Carmen, real name Tara Leigh Patrick, also had to apologise to one act after she ignored them while Simon distracted her with a massage.
