Armed and dangerous: Scarlett Johansson smouldered today in a black catsuit on the set of The Avengers in New York City

Just a few months ago there were whispers around Hollywood about Scarlett Johansson sporting a fuller figure, but now there is no doubt that the actress has returned to form.

The svelte star smouldered today in New York City as she walked around the set of her new movie The Avengers in a figure-hugging black leather catsuit.

Her skintight costume was outfitted with a wide black belt and had several weapons attached.

Ready for battle: Scarlett was joined on set by fellow cast members Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans who looked like they were preparing for a fight scene

As she stood next to a battered yellow taxi, Scarlett brushed her fiery red hair back from her face and tried to focus on the task at hand.

The 26-year-old is reprising her role as the Black Widow, from Iron Man 2.
She was joined by several other cast members on set.

The actress shot a scene alongside Oscar-nominated actor Jeremy Renner who is portraying the Avenger Hawkeye and Chris Evans who plays Captain America.

Both actors looked ready for battle in their superhero costumes and at one point were spotted running as cameras caught all of the action.

What's so funny? Scarlett laughs and smiles as the crew takes a short break from filming

While Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr, was not on set with the rest of the cast Saturday.

Yesterday, he looked dapper in his usual grey suit with a purple shirt and tie.
Downey got involved with the crew and prop department and chatted with the staff before filming some solo scenes.

He also shared a hug with fellow American actor Mark Ruffalo.

Getting in shape: Scarlett sported a fuller figure in April while jogging

Also yesterday, Mark's wife and children stopped by and the actor could been seen carrying one of his daughters around the set.

Mark, who is a character actor, was nominated for an Academy Award earlier this year for his co-starring role in the blended family drama,The Kids Are All Right.

His role in The Avengers will likely make the actor much more recognizable outside of Hollywood.

What a wreck: Scarlett and Chris Evans walk away from what appears to be a car crash

The action-adventure is written and directed by Joss Whedon, who shot to stardom in the 1990's after creating the hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The Avengers, based on the original comic book series, brings together all of the famous characters who have to unite to battle the forces of evil force.

In addition to filming in New York, the cast and crew are also expected to shoot scenes in New Mexico, Michigan and Los Angeles.
