They were rumoured to have got engaged earlier this month after Mario Falcone popped the question during a romantic holiday in Marbella.

And now TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh has confirmed the reports that she is set to wed her beau, after displaying her £25,000 engagement ring.

The 20-year-old star flashed the huge sparkler as she and Mario, 24, had a conversation last week on the balcony of their Essex home.

Despite being dressed down in a pair of loose trousers and vest top, nothing could detract from the stunning diamond sitting proudly on Lucy's left hand.

It was reported earlier this month that Mario had decided to ask Lucy to marry him during their recent trip to Marbs.

According to onlookers in the Spanish holiday resort, Mario popped the question to his girlfriend during a moonlit boat ride.

But when they returned to shore, the reality stars ensured they kept their poker faces in place and have since refused to acknowledge the rumours.

Lucy has also declined to respond to a number of her fans who requesting that she clear up proposal rumours on Twitter.

It is believed that the reason Lucy and Mario are keeping quiet about the engagement is because they are planning to make the news public in a magazine spread.

It is also thought that the pair's engagement will act as the big finale for TOWIE's summer special The Only Way Is Marbs, which is set to air on June 13.

Mario and Lucy began dating last summer and he was quickly introduced to TOWIE viewers in the first episode of season three.

Their relationship hasn't been all smooth-sailing though, with the couple briefly splitting after it was revealed that Lucy had lied about waking up in bed with ex-boyfriend Mark Wright during a holiday last September.

The couple had only just reconciled when Lucy found a string of racy emails between Mario and other women.

But the duo have been getting along far better this year, with the pair even moving in together recently.
