God Bless America: The Beckham boys showed their respect during a minute of silence for 9/11 victims at Los Angeles Galaxy v Colorado Rapids at the Home Depot Center, Carson, California tonight

They've been known to use the stands at the Home Depot to lark around while their father plays for L.A Galaxy, but tonight the Beckham boys showed just how mature they can be.

With David, 36 , occupied by matters on the pitch and their 37-year-old mother in New York, the trio needed no supervision - or encouragement, for that matter - to engage in a heartwarming show of respect for the victims of 9/11 during a one minute silence.

Only Brooklyn, 12 , had been born on that terrible day, with Romeo, 9 , and Cruz, 6 , soon to follow him, but even the eldest Beckham progeny, still living in England at that stage, was surely too young to comprehend the ramifications of those planes crashing into the Twin Towers.

The fact that he so obviously does now, along with his two brothers, is testament to the parenting skills of his famous parents.

It's rare for children born into both wealth and limelight to be aware of society in a greater sense, let alone of their place in history.

All three behave like normal, playful young men with manners, a far cry from the brattish offspring of other celebrity stalwarts.

They've also aligned themselves strongly to their adopted country.

The trio speak with an American twang that their father admits he still finds surprising.

He paid tribute tonight by wearing an armband to mark the tenth anniversary of the atrocity.

Victoria is certain to be proud of her boys when she sees these pictures.

The fashion designer is spending time with daughter Harper in New York, and today showed off the tot - who was born in July - as she walked about the city.

The former Spice Girl is due to show her Spring/Summer 2012 designs this Sunday at the New York Public Library.

Victoria gave a hint of what can be expected from the collection and said she had tried to create 'the perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through the night.'
