Looking a bit flat: Gwyneth Paltrow's braless bodycon look left her looking rather deflated at the launch ifThe Conversation at DVF Studio in New York last night

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is undoubtedly considered one of the world's natural beauties.

But even she struggled to make this daring look work as she stepped out braless in a tight black bodycon minidress.

Daring: Gwyneth looked somewhat deflated as she revealed a lot of flesh in her LBD

While her pilates and gym-honed body is without question in tip-top shape, the actress's style choice left a lot to be desired.

The sheer front of the dress which even Lindsay Lohan might consider rather racy, revealed a daring amount of flesh.

The mother of two turns 40 later this year, but is clearly not ready to submit to twinset and pearls just yet.

The short black dress featured a diaphanous panel that revealed a of a lot of cleavage. Some would say too much.

But she still shone as she posed with friend Amanda De Cadenet and designer Diane von Furstenberg.

De Cadenet, also 39, threw a dinner to promote her new series The Conversation, which is executive produced by Demi Moore,49.

At tonight's dinner, Paltrow was asked who she would like to have a conversation with, and answered rather boringly, her husband Chris Martin, 34 , of the band Coldplay.

Just not sexy: Gwyneth chats to the legendary designer, who can perhaps advise her to vamp up her look

She said: 'My husband. It would be really cool. I'd ask him a bunch of questions.'

The fete was thrown in conjunction with designer Diane von Furstenberg and was held at the designer's downtown studio.

'Amanda and I are old friends. We met probably like in 1993 and stayed in touch,' says Paltrow. 'In the last 10 years, we became really close friends.'

De Cadenet says of her keys to conversation: 'You just have to listen, be interested, and not talk over people.'

And she's been scoring some big hitters.

Lady Gaga recently shared details of her past cocaine use, while Paltrow spoke at length about her father's death.

De Cadenet, who's married to Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi, 31 , says she doesn't have a dream guest for the show.

'There are so many amazing women in the world. I'm excited,' she says. And de Cadenet isn't just interviewing her friends.

'Less than 50% were my friends. I'd just met Zoe Saldana the day before (the interview). Diane (von Furstenberg) and I had just met,' she said.

Furstenberg, who was on the show added: 'I had a great time. I e-mailed her and asked her if she wanted me to give her a party and she said yes and here we are. A girls' party.'
