Pippa is interviewed by French news organisation Le Petit Journal, who ask her what she thinks of the 'French flair'. 'Amazing!' she replies

Film footage from a lavish Marie Antoinette-themed party attended by Pippa Middleton has been released on the website of French television channel Canal+.

Attending the fancy dress party in Paris last Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge's sister looks to be having a whale of a time.

Accompanied by three of the French capital's most eligible bachelors, the 28-year-old, dressed as a risque French courtier, unleashes her best moves on the dancefloor among a heaving melée of cavorting dwarves, burlesque strippers bursting out of giant cakes and aristocratic French men wearing dog leads.

Later, she is clearly uncomfortable with further interviews. 'I don't want to speak in front of the cameras,' she tells Vicomte Marcy after he asks her to tell the interviewer what she thinks of their party

But Marcy nevertheless pushes on, telling the TV crew that Pippa is his new girlfriend. And while she laughs along, one suspects she wishes she could walk away

'Do you speak French, Pippa?' the interviewer asks. 'Un petit peu,' she replies, before dancing away

Her party host was the Vicomte Arthur de Soultrait, who was turning 30, while the rest of her merry band for the weekend were his dark-haired, dashing little brother, the Vicomte Marcy; and the equally eligible restaurateur and TV producer Antoine de Tavernost.

In video footage from the night shot by Le Petit Journal, Pippa looks to be in high spirits, laughing and joking with the television interviewer with an equally high-spirited Vicomte Marcy by her side.

But while she appears to be all smiles, Pippa is clearly reluctant to appear in front of the camera - but is equally reluctant to offend her hosts.

Looking slightly awkward, Pippa expresses concern to her friend about appearing on television, saying she would be happy to pose for photographs but that she would rather not talk to the camera.

Nevertheless, the cameraman - and Pippa's chaperone - continue to urge her into the spotlight, perhaps aware of the global exposure any footage of Pippa might bring.

When the interviewer asks Pippa what she thinks of the 'French flair', she replies, laughing, that she thinks it is 'amazing' before turning away.

Later, the cameras turn back to Pippa, as she is heard telling Vicomte Marcy that the song currently playing is in the film Drive.

Embarrassed, Pippa laughs off the suggestion that she is the new girlfriend of Vicomte Marcy

Later, the Duchess's sister is seen from afar, dancing in the crowd, unaware she is being filmed

Marcy turns to the camera and asks Pippa if she will say to the television camera what she thinks of the party.

Looking uncomfortable, but clearly keen not to offend her host, Pippa says to her friend through a polite smile that she is happy to pose for photographs, but that she would rather not talk to the camera.

Unfazed, her friend jokes to the camera that Pippa is his new 'petite amie' (girlfriend), and Pippa throws her head back and laughs in response - though one suspects that she is rather regretting the exposure, but feels the burden of politeness forcing her to go along with the gag.

'Do you speak French, Pippa?' the interviewer presses on. 'Un petit peu!' she replies, before her friend corrects her French, and the two dance off.

Later in the video, Pippa is seen chatting to friends, turning her head away when she spots a camera pointing in her direction, and is later captured from afar, dancing, hands in the air, to Alicia Keys' song, Streets Of New York.

It is one thing to let loose at a party, but another entirely for the revelry to be captured on television camera.

One might suppose that the honourable way for Pippa's French hosts to behave would have been to let their British consort party in private.

Regrettably, it looks as though these attention-seeking men don't know the meaning of the word.

Kissing in the corner, Pippa's clinch with Paris playboy

By REBECCA ENGLISH AND LOUISE ECCLES

Pippa Middleton was seen passionately kissing a notorious Paris playboy during her ‘wild weekend’ in the city, the Mail can reveal.

According to eye-witnesses, Prince William’s sister-in-law and Antoine de Tavernost sneaked off to a quiet corner at the debauched party thrown by French fashion entrepreneur, Vicomte Arthur de Soultrait.

Hours after the Friday night party, Pippa found herself at the centre of controversy after one of her companions brandished a gun at photographers.

But last night the Vicomte’s brother tried to play down the incident and said that Pippa was treating the entire incident ‘as a joke’.

Marcy de Soultrait insisted the gun in question was a child’s toy and that the royal in-law thought the entire incident was ‘a very funny game’. Speaking from the family chateau in Presles, just outside Paris, de Soultrait told the Mail last night: ‘Pippa is a very good friend of mine and this gun affair is very silly.

‘It was a children’s toy that the driver had in his car. Pippa thought it was funny. It is fine in France to do that and the police are not investigating. In France there is no problem, just in England. You English think there is a problem, which is crazy.

‘I have spoken with Pippa, she thinks this is all a joke and a funny game. We were just having a laugh. We are funny people, it’s what we do.

‘The paparazzo saw the toy and he knew it was a toy, he has said so. You English need to get over it. It was just a joke that has been blown out of all proportion.’

In fact, an ongoing police inquiry is causing acute embarrassment to the Royal Family — only last year, the Mail can reveal, the Vicomte was photographed with the Queen when his firm provided the clothing for the GCC Polo Cup held at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor.

Pippa and Antoine were pictured leaving the party hand-in-hand

The Duchess of Cambridge’s sister was invited to Paris by the Vicomte for his 30th birthday party at the Theatre St Germain, an upmarket restaurant and nightclub. As the champagne flowed, Pippa, 28, was seen in a corner in an intimate embrace with Antoine de Tavernost, whom, it is claimed, she’d just met.

The couple were later photographed walking hand-in-hand as they arrived at a post-party soiree at the nearby Le Schmuck restaurant, in which de Tavernost has a share.

A well-placed source, backed by another independent witness, told the Mail: ‘She was kissing Antoine de Tavernost. He is the son of the chairman of a big TV station. He is quite wealthy and lives in Paris. They seemed like girlfriend and boyfriend on Friday night, but Antoine will see it as a bit of fun, nothing more.

‘They met for the first time at the party. They were chatting and dancing. Then later they were seen kissing in the corner.

‘Apart from this, she was very well behaved. They left together, at about 2.30am, to go to a restaurant called Schmuck St Germain, where he is a partner.

‘Then they went to Regine, another nightclub. I don’t know if they went home together.’
