New man: Cheryl Cole furthered romance rumours with Alex Da Kid after tweeting that she loves him

She was linked to New York producer Alex Da Kid earlier this year after the pair worked together on her new album.

But now Cheryl Cole has furthered romance rumours by tweeting the music star that she loves him.

The Girls Aloud singer took to her Twitter page in the early hours of the morning to declare her feelings for Da Kid.

She wrote: '@AlexDaKid I love you'

Da Kid was quick to reply, tweeting back a simple: '@CherylCole love you to....'

Cheryl and Da Kid were first linked back at the beginning of the month, after Cheryl was spotted with the producer.

Honesty is the best policy: Cheryl made the admission on her Twitter page

A source told the Sun: 'Cheryl and Alex have struck up a great friendship and have been living in each other's pockets for the past week.

'Some of the recording sessions have run into the very early hours with just the two of them and a laptop in their hotel rooms.

'Cheryl has been suffering from jet lag and couldn't sleep , so they have just worked through the night.

I feel the same: Alex was quick to respond to Cheryl's message, telling her he loves her too

'It hasn't been all work though - they've enjoyed some play too.

'If the music is going to work, then they need to find their own chemistry.'

It's not the first time Cheryl, who is divorced from football player Ashley, has found herself the centre of romance rumours over the past few weeks.

She was also linked to Taio Cruz after the pair spent time collaborating on the singer's new album.

The Take Me Back singer-songwriter, who is also 28, first worked with Cheryl back in 2009 on her single, Stand Up, which features on her debut album.

'Taio is beautiful, caring and so amazing,' Cheryl was quoted as telling her friends in heat magazine.

'He gives me the confidence I thought I'd lost. I'm completely clumsy and dippy around him.'
