The Bourne Identity crisis: Jeremy Renner was seen arriving on the set of new movie The Bourne Legacy with his tiny six-inch high toy dog

Jason Bourne is undoubtedly one of the most famous on-screen action heroes all time.

But new spy star Jeremy Renner couldn't have looked further from his celluloid alter-ego as he arrived on the New York set of new movie The Bourne Legacy with his six-inch high toy dog.

The 40-year-old actor, who is most famous for his role in war thriller The Hurt Locker, donned a grey T-shirt and navy baseball cap as he took his pooch out for a stroll.

However, his macho appearance was ruined by his tiny French bulldog, who trotted along faithfully in front of his master.

There has been little revealed about the upcoming Bourne movie, which follows on from the last film The Bourne Ultimatum.

All that is known is that Renner will play 'an operative from a covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Bourne.'

The upcoming film, slated for release in August 2012, also stars Rachel Weisz.
The 41-year-old actress was spotted on the set of the movie in Queens yesterday wearing a white doctor's coat and an identity tag bearing the name of a facility called Sterisyn Morlanta.

As well as starring Weisz, the new movie will feature performances from Edward Norton, as well as the return of Joan Allen as Pam Landy and the rumoured return of Albert Finney as Dr Albert Hirsch.
