Sexy style: Meanwhile Australian-born Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr also opted for black, but wore a design which looked sleek and stunning, showing off her curves and left leg with the garment split to the thigh
There may have been a kaleidoscope of colours at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York tonight, but all eyes were firmly fixed on Miranda Kerr.
The stunning 28-year-old model managed to outshine a slew of A-listers in a stunning floor length black gown, sexily slit at the thigh.
She teamed the outfit, which came complete with cut out side panels, with a gold belt and gladiator-style gold cuffs, looking the epitome of Hollywood glamour.
Say cheese: Twilight star Ashley Greene stood out in pink as she posed with designer Michael Kors and Miranda
With her hair in a sleek chignon, the model at one point posed alongside designer Michael Kors and Twilight star Ashley Greene on the purple carpet.
Posing exactly five months after giving birth to son Flynn, Australian-born Kerr proved once again how genitally blessed she has been with her dress showing off her enviably toned figure.
Elsewhere, while she and Lady Gaga shared the same colour theme, the style and cut of the outfits could not have been any more contrasting.
All smiles: The Australian model looked stunning in a black number with cut out panels
The 25-year-old singer channelled a punk rock prom queen with a spiked corset style upper half, complete with sheer material across her décolletage, proving that the colour black could be just as eye-catching as they stole the limelight from the ladies in brighter colours.
The outfit was, unsurprisingly, short and the design flowed into a dramatic ruffled train, which the Born This Way singer teamed with a pair of 12inch platform heels.
With a turquoise wig, the fashion icon added a splash of colour to her otherwise monochrome look.
Colour blocking: Pregnant Jessica Alba wore a stand out purple and orange outfit, reminiscent of Cheryl cole's attire for the first day of the U.S. X Factor auditions before she was dropped from the show
Meanwhile, Jessica Alba went for a more brightly coloured look, in a brightly coloured orange top and a floor length purple skirt, which diverted attention from her growing baby bump.
The 30-year-old actress had clearly plumped for this season's 'colour blocking' trend, favoured by the likes of Cheryl Cole.
She paired her outfit with gold bracelets and glittery gold shoes, with oversize gold earrings.
Joining her were more sombrely dressed stars Shenae Grimes and actress Kirsten Dunst, with Dunst decked out in a black tuxedo and slim fitting trousers.

Grimes plumped for a more feminine black and white corset top and chunky black heels.
There were a good few ladies in red, with models Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio and Karlie Kloss all arriving in variants of bright scarlet, Kloss posing with designer Jason Wu.
Lady Gaga and Marc Jacobs are sure winners at Monday night's Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, already named this year's style icon and lifetime achievement winners.
Jacobs is up against fellow hipsters Alexander Wang, and Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler in the top womenswear design category. Wang and the Proenza duo are also competing with Reed Krakoff as top accessories designer.
In the running for menswear are Michael Bastian, Patrik Ervell and Simon Spurr.

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are nominees for the emerging talent prize in womenswear, challenging Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra.
They arrived at the event in contrasting outfits, with Ashley opting for a pretty blue dress and Mary-Kate opting for a more striking brassy gold blazer over a black skirt.
A few of the A-listers opted for gold with Canadian actress and Entourage star Emmanuelle Chriqui wearing a bright yellow mini dress, actress Naomi Watts in light gold and British singer Estelle in a low cut darker gold gown.
Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim and Robert Geller have nods in the up-and-coming menswear designer category, and Alejandro Ingelmo, Eddie Borgo, Pamella Love and Jason Wu in accessories.
Double style: Ashley (L) and Mary-Kate Olsen (R) arrive in contrasting outfits with Ashley in a blue pastel gown and Mary-Kate wearing a brassy fold jacket and black skirt
The other big competition of the night? Which designer brings the highest-wattage celebrity date to the Lincoln Center.
In years past, Gwyneth Paltrow and Blake Lively showed up on the arm of Michael Kors, Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson with Francisco Costa, Rihanna with Max Azria, and Victoria Beckham with Jacobs.
Sofia Coppola is slated to give Jacobs his lifetime prize.
